Job Overview
As a Junior QA Engineer, you will work closely with senior QA engineers, developers, and project teams to design test cases, execute testing cycles, and support quality assurance across our products. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and a desire to grow in a dynamic IT environment. This position is open to sponsorship under the UK Skilled Worker visa (SOC 2136 – IT Quality and Testing Professionals), including candidates on a Graduate/PSW visa qualifying for the New Entrant salary route.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning & Documentation:
- Analyze requirements and design test cases, test scripts, and test plans based on functional and technical specifications.
- Ensure test coverage is accurate, complete, and aligned with project objectives.
Test Execution & Reporting:
- Perform manual and/or automated testing to identify bugs, defects, and inconsistencies.
- Log, track, and document defects (using tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, or similar) and verify fixes through retesting.
- Assist in generating test summary reports to support release decisions.
Quality Standards & Analysis:
- Support the development and application of quality standards and validation techniques for software and systems.
- Analyze test results and identify root causes of defects, proposing viable solutions.
- Assist in developing and maintaining automated test scripts (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, or similar frameworks).
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Work with cross-functional teams (developers, business analysts, and project management) to understand testing needs and prioritize test coverage.
- Present testing results, defect trends, and quality risks in a clear, concise manner to stakeholders.
Continuous Learning:
- Stay updated on testing methodologies, tools, and industry trends.
- Support senior engineers in advanced automation and quality assurance projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 0–3 years of professional experience in software testing, QA, or a related field (fresh graduates with strong academic or internship projects welcome to apply).
- Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, aligned with RQF Level 6+.
- Technical Skills:
- Exposure to the financial domain is a plus, not required.
- Basic knowledge of SQL for data validation and backend testing.
- Familiarity with bug tracking and test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, or similar).
- Exposure to automation testing tools (Selenium, Cypress, Postman) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies (optional but beneficial).
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in identifying sources of defects and proposing solutions.
- Communication: Ability to explain defects, test results, and quality concerns clearly.
- Eagerness to Learn: Willingness to grow in a fast-paced IT environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus)
- Internship or academic projects involving software testing or QA.
- Familiarity with API testing and CI/CD concepts.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner).
